Message from the Headteacher
It has been another busy week at St John's. We heard today that the COVID-19 measures for our school will be remaining in place until the end of November.
Can I please remind you of these measures:
- Reduce mixing between groups of students as much as possible. No wholes school assemblies, these will continue to be virtual. Children will continue to play in their zones at playtimes. No clubs to take place after school except Peregrines for childcare and Tag Rugby, as this takes place outside.
- Promote social distancing and reduce crowding where possible; minimise pinch points in the school day with separate entrances and staggered lunches.
- Reinforce social distancing and good infection prevention control amongst staff (ventilation and touchpoint cleaning especially in areas where staff gather)
- Any close or household contacts of confirmed cases of Covid-19 identified by NHS Test & Trace to book a PCR test and whilst awaiting test results, undertake a daily LFD test and only attend school if this is negative- this includes students of primary age under parental discretion. The new LFD tests are nasal swabs only and much easier to use than previous stocks.

Finally, thank you for your enthusiastic response to 'Birthday Books' we have already had a few books sent in for children who have already had birthdays.
Reading is a key skill that supports writing and language development. We would like to encourage you all to read as much as you can to your child. Try to choose quality texts with good vocabulary and illustrations. Here are a few examples from the book trust.

From next week we will be posting a story twice a week read by myself or another teacher on ClassDojo to encourage you and your children to see the benefits of story telling and quality texts.
