Message from the Headteacher

 Dear Parents/Carers,

Next week is a busy week with lots for you to get involved in. On Thursday we are holding our first Curriculum Open Afternoon. This is a chance for you to walk around the school and speak to curriculum leads about the subjects taught in our school, as well as see books and resources used. Please collect your child from their classroom at 2.30pm. If you are unable to attend, please collect your child from the hall via the steps at the back of the school at the end of the day.

On Friday we are very fortunate to be hosting a free workshop to help parents with the development of their child's emotional intelligence. Free breakfast will be provided, so come along! Please email the school office if you would like to attend. Email office@stjohnsglastonbury.school .  Please note, there will be no Abbey walk on this day, in order for us to accommodate the workshop.

Thank you for your support,

Kerry Devane

Tips for Parents

Big Feelings Workshop - A FREE workshop for parents of toddlers to teens.

Would you like to learn how to:

  • be better at talking with your child?
  • be better at understanding your child?
  • help your child learn to manage their emotions?
  • help to prevent behaviour problems in your child?
  • teach your child to deal with conflict?

This hour-long workshop shows you how to help your child develop emotional intelligence.

Children with higher emotional intelligence:

  • have greater success with making and keeping friends
  • have better concentration at school
  • are more able to calm down when upset or angry
  • tend to have fewer childhood illnesses

Emotional intelligence may be a better predictor of academic and career success than IQ!
