Message from the Headteacher

What a wonderful Easter Bonnet parade we had yesterday. The children sang beautifully and the sun shone for us on our return to school. Thank you to all the families who attended it was so nice to see you all.

We have some great plans for the playground in the Easter holidays and need your help. County are resurfacing the whole playground and removing the trim trail. The trim trail has been in place for 20 years and is becoming costly to fix. We would like to fundraise for the playground to buy new equipment. Come along to our next PTA meeting with any ideas or just to help with this new project.

I hope you all have a wonderful Easter break, Easter blessings to you all.

Your new Headteacher....

Last week was very memorable in many ways for me.

I have wanted to be a teacher since a very young age, reading stories to my puppies and setting up class with my teddies.

I have been working at St John's for 18 years. I moved here from London and took the post as Nursery teacher.

11 years ago I moved into Rabbits class to be a Reception teacher and 8 years ago I began my leadership journey as your Deputy Head.

I am very proud to be your Headteacher, I love Glastonbury and I love our school and the children and staff I will be very lucky to serve.

Parenting Tip

It's important to reflect on how we view our child's behaviour because how we view it, will have a big impact on how we deal with it. When we've decided our child is being 'manipulative', 'doing it on purpose' or 'just being naughty', it stops us wondering what really could be behind the behaviour we're seeing.

A useful tip is to stop thinking MIS-BEHAVIOUR and start thinking MISSED-SKILL. Ask yourself "What does my child need to LEARN to help them better manage the situation they are in?" This can apply to day to day tasks, social situations and children's emotions. See every unhelpful behaviour as a teaching opportunity and watch how your child responds.
