Message from the Headteacher

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the fantastic team of staff we have at St John's. Staff absence has made it more challenging to ensure all our children have an uninterrupted 'normal' week. However, because of the staff pulling together, staying late after school, stepping into roles they don't normally have, we have indeed had a fairly normal week. We are very lucky to have such kind and dedicated team members. Thank you!

Thank you to the family members who attended our second Phonics workshop. Please do attend our Maths workshop next week. If you are unable to attend any of the workshops but would like to receive the information shared please contact our Maths and Literacy Leads.

Parenting Tip

How much attention, does your child get, for behaviour you DON'T like happening?

It can be easy to stop noticing all the good things that go on in families. We might be quick to point out when a child is doing something wrong but fail to notice and praise when they are doing something right. If this goes on too long, a child might learn that an easy way to get some attention is to annoy their sister or draw you into pointless arguments. Professor Matt Saunders suggests making a particular effort to notice positive behaviour so that it increases. As you do this, where possible, plan to ignore minor irritations and see if those die out"
