Message from the Headteacher

 Dear Parents/Carers,

We are really getting into the swing of things at school. The children are remembering the routines of the day and where they should be, and when. We are especially proud of our Reception children who joined us for assembly today for the first time.

Could I please ask that when collecting your child(ren) from school or from after school club, you leave the premises promptly and close the gate behind you, to ensure we can keep our after school club children safe.

Teachers will soon be offering a time for you to meet with them on the phone or in person for our first consultations of the year. It is really important that you take this opportunity to meet with your child's teacher to find out how they have settled into school and how you can support them at home.

Thank you for your support,

Kerry Devane

Tips for Parents

Last week I introduced the idea of relationships in general, moving away for a moment from those tricky and value laden words 'parenting' and 'behaviour'.

If we want any relationship to thrive, partner, friend, family, what does it need? It usually needs -

Time - good quality time (I'll talk about this next week)

Attention - positive attention that is focused on what's going well

Communication - the ability to let the other person know how you're feeling and to be able to get your needs met appropriately, and the ability to 'actively listen' to them so you understand what's going on for them and what they need

Affection - lots of physical connection if wanted kisses, cuddles, strokes, pats. Lots of non physical if not, blow kisses, winks, thumbs up, high fives

Have a look at the quality of your closest relationships. What would make them even better?

Composer of the week

This week we have been listening to Johnny Cash. Another great country music composer.

He is considered one of the most important musicians of the 20th century. He is well known for his country music, his music spanned many other genres, including gospel, folk and rock and roll.

School Prayer

Dear God,

Thank you for loving us and teaching us how to love, persevere and respect each other in everything we do.

Amen
