 Message from the Headteacher

What a week we have had with heat waves and leavers events, no wonder I am exhausted! Thank you to DJ Becky as always for playing awesome tunes!

We would like to wish our Year 2 children all the best of luck on the next step of their education journey. We will look back on our time with them with very fond memories. They have been awesome in a time of uncertainty and change with COVID-19 interrupting their Year 1 and Reception year.

I would also like to wish the very best of luck to Mrs Cullen and Miss Capaldi who are moving on to new adventures.

Have a wonderful Summer break, and we look forward to welcoming back our families and their children in September.

Kerry Devane - Acting Headteacher

Parenting Tip

HERE’S YOUR SUMMER SURVIVAL GUIDE FOR THE NEXT FEW WEEKS:

  • Set a Routine: Even the most basic structure can be a great help in the Summer.   Most children feel comforted when there is a predictable pattern to their day or week.
  • But also Be flexible: Too much planning can get in the way of fun.   Teach your children that it is OK to be spontaneous and to make adaptations when plans change.

  • Brainstorm together: Parents do not need to be the activity coordinators or problem-solvers. Work together to create a list of fun activities or find solutions to conflicts.
  • Honour space: Some children are emotionally drained after social activities.   Give them time to recharge by setting aside time for reading, individual play or naps.
  • Help Someone Else: If your children are complaining or bored, it may be time to focus on others.   Encourage them to do random acts of kindness or sign up to volunteer.
  • Take a deep Breath: Not every summer day is full of sunshine and laughter.   Rather than being hard on yourself, give yourself permission to take a break and relax.

Finding balance is never easy. It’s especially hard when the routine changes. Keep it simple this Summer. When things seem to get off track, focus on re-connecting with your kids first. Then, look at this list and see which area could be improved.

Summer will be over before you know it…no, really, it will!

School Prayer

Dear God,

Thank you for loving us and teaching us how to love, persevere and respect each other in everything we do.

Amen
