Message from the Headteacher

 Dear Parents/Carers,

We have been busy planning our trip to the seaside this week and thinking about Jubilee celebrations.

We have also had a few areas of the school revamped with the cosy room in the Nursery being painted, and some fabulous wallpaper expertly hung on the walls by Charlotte Spencer. The shed in the Reception playground has had a lick of paint, thank you to our Governor Gareth for giving up his time to do this. The school and class environment are very important to us at school. If you have any spare time there are always little jobs to be done, and we really do appreciate any help you could offer.

Peregrine's Club

Please note that there will be no after school club for Peregrine's on Tuesday 24th May. This is due to staff shortages as most staff will all be on the school trip. All children on the school trip will need to be picked up at 4pm. Thank you.

Parenting Tip

Won't people think I'm a bad parent if I go on a parenting course?

It's sad that, in Britain, we have a very dim view of parenting courses or workshops. In other countries, parenting classes are a standard part of antenatal care. Like learning to drive, their belief is that babies don't come with a guide book and there's no expectation a parent should magically 'know' what to do. So why are we so tough on ourselves?

A lot of parents fear being seen as 'a bad parent' if they are seen seeking advice. As an experienced children's services worker though, I can confidently say I have NEVER had a bad parent ask me for advice because a truly 'bad' parent wouldn't bother. I've only ever had good, caring parents who want to be even better come to my courses.

So, if you see a workshop advertised, help me change the unhelpful mindset that stops good parents from asking for help and sign up!
