Message from the Headteacher

 Dear Parents/Carers,

I can't believe we have entered April already. The months are flying by. I have enjoyed teaching and observing learning in Key Stage 1 this week, I have learnt a few facts about the Planets myself. The children have learnt so much in such little time, their brains really are like little sponges.

Don't forget to buy or make an Easter hat or headband ready for next Thursday, our hugely anticipated 'Easter Bonnet Parade'. The children will be coming home with the words to the song that we will be singing to practice if you get a chance. See the link below which may help with the tune.

Lateness this week has exceeded 450 minutes. This means we have lost 7.5 hours of learning this week. This is mostly due to people running late, or waking up late.

Parenting Tip

Healthy role models

Children learn a lot about their world and how to respond to it by watching others. What to do, how to manage situations and how to react when something happens, are all important skills that children can learn simply by watching and listening. So who are your child's influencers? In the early years, those influences will come from their family but, as children get older, those influences will extend more towards friends and people they see in media. If you notice a new behaviour, ask yourself where it is coming from, notice who is influencing your child and make sure what they are seeing is healthy and beneficial.

Composer of the Week

Camille Saint Saens

This is the last of our Classical Composers. Camille Saint-Saens was a French composer, pianist and organist. He was one of the greatest composers of his day. He composed lots of music of different kinds. Among his best works are his Symphony no 3 (with organ) , Piano Concerto no 2, Violin Concerto no 3, Cello Concerto no 1, the opera Samson and Delilah and the Danse Macabre. His most popular work, however, is the Carnival of the Animals. Saint-Saens hated being thought of as “the composer of the Carnival of the Animals". He said he had only written it for a bit of fun, and he did not want anyone to perform it. Today it still remains one of the most popular pieces for children.
