Message from the Headteacher

 Dear Parents/Carers,

What a lovely week we have had with Shrove Tuesday and World Book day. The hall looked so colourful on Thursday morning.

I wonder if you are giving anything up for Lent as we count down to Easter. I am really looking forward to planning an Easter service for you to all attend. We have started to learn some songs to sing in Church.

Thank you for making the effort to send your children into school in their class colours and for the fantastic photos of them reading in unusual places. The children engaged in some lovely activities with their focus books, in Otters class they were eating 'Green Eggs and Ham' and in Hedgehogs class they had a special visitor.....a Tiger.  I am not sure if he stayed for Tea.

We have also had a great addition to the school this week with some speakers installed in the corridors. This helps keep the corridors calm and also exposes the children to different genres of music as they transition around the school.

Have a fantastic weekend, enjoy the Spring sunshine.

Thank you for your support,

Kerry Devane

COVID Measures

With no new cases since half-term we have now lifted the measures previously in place. The children are now mixing in lessons and at playtime and staff are now longer required to wear masks around the school.

It's great to have some normality in school however, we must remember that if we experience a significant raise in COVID numbers, we may run the risk of having to return to safety measures.  With this in mind, we would encourage you to look out for COVID symptoms.   If your child tests positive on a Lateral Flow Test, they can come back to school if they test negative on Day 5 and Day 6 after the original test.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs Devane via Class Dojo or on (01458) 832085

Parenting Tip

Have you noticed that children seem to want to talk about their worries just before sleep time?  Tired parents, who just want five minutes peace before their own bedtime, might be tempted to dismiss this as just a ploy to delay sleep.

But every child needs opportunities to talk about their feelings, so how do we get this right?

Emotion Talk Time is a time for listening and reflecting their emotions. The time and setting should be appropriate to both of you, but bedtime seems a natural choice.

Adding five or ten minutes Talk Time to your child's bedtime routine puts you in a good space: calm and unhurried, and able to tune in to what your child is really saying.

Composer of the week

This half-term we are learning about Classical music. This week we have been listening to Chopin.

A famous child prodigy, he grew up in Warsaw where he completed his music education and composed many of his works. Chopin composed music mostly for the piano.

It would be great if the children could hear some live music being played. If any of you can play an instrument and would be willing to play to the children in Assembly for 10 minutes we would be very grateful.

Our School Prayer

Dear God,

Thank you for loving us and teaching us how to love, persevere and respect each other in everything we do.

Amen
