Message from the Headteacher

 Dear Parents/Carers,

You will shortly be receiving an opportunity to meet with your child's class teacher for a mid-year pupil progress meeting. This will be a chance to meet with your child's teacher in person or chat on the phone. Please do take this opportunity to find out how your child is progressing at school and how you can support them at home.

Some of you may have received a letter or phone call about your child's attendance recently. It is normal around the Winter months that there are more illnesses and bugs. We do however, have a responsibility to monitor and support families with attendance which may lead to letters being sent home or phone calls. Please see the link below for our attendance policy.

PTA News

Our first PTA meeting of the year was attended by some enthusiastic parents. We shared lots of ideas and agreed that the swimming pool would be the focus of our attention.

We are planning a Disco for the Reception class on Thursday 17th February. This will be after school until 4pm. Snacks will be provided and there will be lots of dancing. Donations of £2 would be most welcome for those children who would like to attend.

Please look out for news and events in this newsletter and on ClassDojo. Alternatively if you would like to email the PTA with any ideas or enquires please do so.

Parenting Tip

Good sleep is important for your child's physical and mental wellbeing.

A relaxing bedtime routine is an important way to help your child get a good night's sleep.

Relaxation tips to help sleep

Doing the same relaxing things in the same order and at the same time each night helps promote good sleep:

  • A warm (not hot) bath will help your child relax and get ready for sleep.
  • Keeping lights dim encourages your child's body to produce the sleep hormone, melatonin.
  • Once they're in bed, encourage your child to read quietly or listen to some relaxing music, or read a story together.
  • You could also suggest your child tries this relaxing breathing exercise before bed.

Well done to Nahla in Otters who has joined a new Club and has received lots of praise from the Club leaders.

"Her enthusiasm bubbles out of her the second she walks through the door"

Keep up the good work Nahla!

Composer/Artist of the week

This week we looked at the artist Banksy. The children really enjoyed recreating images using black chalks and charcoal.
