Message from the Headteacher

 Dear Parents/Carers

Thank you so much for being so patient while we get the scaffolding up for the roof repairs. Hopefully the weather will hold up so the work gets done quickly.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the pool fundraising. Plans are underway to get the pool fully operational for after Easter. I am also having discussions with local companies to improve the pool, so we can use it all year round as there are still funds left over from the fundraising. I know all our families will welcome the news of the children being able to swim again in the Spring and Summer months.

Can I please urge you to keep an eye out on ClassDojo for announcements from Teachers this is a valuable way for you to keep in touch and support with your child's education. If you don't have a login then please contact your child's teacher.

Thank you for your support,

Kerry Devane

Parenting Tip

One of the main complaints I get back from the teenagers I work with is that their parents 'never listen' to them. When I ask what they mean, they usually state their parent is either too busy or doesn't understand what they are trying to say.

Effective listening is a skill best started early and includes these steps -

  • give your full attention to your child
  • make eye contact and stop other things you are doing
  • get down on your child’s level
  • and reflect or repeat back what s/he is saying and what s/he may be feeling to make sure you understand
  • don't dismiss feelings as unimportant and don't try to problem solve. Just really try to hear what your child is saying
