Message from the Headteacher

Dear all,

Thank you to all the families that have supported the PTA events in the last few weeks. The funds raised by our amazing PTA have recently contributed to the development of our Forest School area. You can see in the image above the children this afternoon enjoying marshmallows around the new sheltered Firepit area. We have also renovated the pond and fencing around it. The plans for the paddock need another £15 000 for phase 2 to resurface and create a sensory music area. If you have any fund-raising ideas or know of businesses that could support us, why not come along to a PTA meeting.

Don't forget it's an Inset Day on the 4th, so we will look forward to welcoming you back into school on Tuesday 5th November at 8:40

On the morning of our first day back we have our fourth 'Tuning into Kids workshops'. I know a few of you missed session three. However, you are welcome to rejoin the group if you attended session one and two.

Have a restful and enjoyable half term.

Thank you for your continued support,

Kerry Devane

Headlice Half-Term Challenge

We have noticed some cases of headlice in school. We would love your support in tackling this head-on (!) during half-term. The recommended solution is to wet-comb the hair with a nit comb (we have some in the office if you need one) and lots of conditioner. The conditioner ensures the lice can slip off the hair when combed through.

Please see advice on using the wet combing method, taken from the NHS website:

"Treat head lice as soon as you spot them.

You should check everyone in the house and start treating anyone who has head lice on the same day.

Wet combing

Lice and nits can be removed by wet combing. You should try this method first.

Use a special fine-toothed comb (detection comb) to remove head lice and nits.

  • wash hair with ordinary shampoo
  • apply lots of conditioner (any conditioner will do)
  • comb the whole head of hair, from the roots to the ends with a nit comb

It usually takes about 10 minutes to comb short hair, and 20 to 30 minutes for long, frizzy or curly hair.

Repeat wet combing on days 1, 5, 9 and 13 to catch any newly hatched head lice.

Check again that everyone's hair is free of lice on day 17."

United action is the best way for us to take control over headlice, so please may we ask you to check your child’s head regularly.

Many thanks for your co-operation in this matter.
