Message from the Headteacher

This week has seen the school community really pulling together. We keep smashing our fundraising target for the swimming pool, and we've even received some special donations from Olympic swimmers Adam Peaty and Rebecca Adlington!

Secondly the donations of money, Raffle prizes and goods for the Christmas Fayre have been flooding in too. I am really looking forward to all the festivities after school next week.

One of our parents has kindly offered to design the bookplate for our birthday books, which are coming in. Thank you to all who have so far donated. A headteacher from another school has suggested that I set up an Amazon wish list, so books aren't replicated and we get a good range of titles. I will post the link to this next week.

I would like to make another couple of requests! We have recently been investing in new resources for the playground to enrich the children's experiences at playtime.  We have kindly been given a donation to purchase more bikes for the playground. These are always extremely popular with the children and are fabulous for fitness and co-ordination. We currently have a few bikes that are slightly broken, with missing pedals or wonky handlebars, and it would be brilliant if these could be restored to add to the collection. If any of you are able to offer your skills of bike fixing or maintenance, we would be extremely grateful.

As well as this, we would very much like to build a shelter for the bikes in the playground to keep them dry. If anyone could spare some time to help, we would again very much appreciate it.

Have a restful weekend, and hopefully I will see some of you at the church for the Frost Fayre tomorrow.

Message from the School Nurse Team

Hello, our names are Maggie (Mclinden) and Victoria (Carnegie), we’re your School Nurse Team. We want your child to be the healthiest they can. We can help with things, like bed wetting, healthy teeth, managing infections, emotional wellbeing, healthy eating and exercise.

It’s the time of year when there are lots of infections about, but there’s lot you can do to help keep your children as healthy as they can be.

· The annual school flu immunisation programme takes place between Oct & Jan co-ordinated by the School Age Immunisation Team (SAINT) at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, please consider agreeing for your child to take part. Tel: 0300 323 0032.

· To minimise the spread of seasonal bugs, think ‘Catch it, Kill it, Bin it’ for sneezes and keep up with regular hand washing.

· Please support School manage covid local outbreaks by observing any changes put in place, they’re there to keep us all safe.

· If you’re worried about your child being ill contact your GP / NHS 111. You can also check out The Spotty Book 2021 produced by NHS England & NHS Improvement SW (online).

If you have a question for us, we have a confidential text messaging service called ChatHealth (text 07480 635515). This is open Mon-Fri 9am-5pm and is staffed by the School Nursing team.

Class Ambassadors

The school ambassadors have been working brilliantly together. They are always on the lookout during playtimes to make sure that children are being kind and safe. The children have made posters to remind everybody about walking safely through school. They have also made an amazing Christmas wreath which will be hung on the door to our school reception. Well done to all our ambassadors this term!
