Message from the Headteacher

I have felt immensely proud of how the children, parents, carers and staff have managed with the new COVID-19 amber measures that have been put in place this week. The children are in class bubbles at lunchtime and are staying in their playground zones with very few reminders. Despite not being able to have assemblies we are still coming together every morning for Virtual assemblies.

We have had a member of staff test positive this week and one pupil. This brings our total number of cases to 6 in 2020-2021. This is still low in comparison to other schools. Hopefully if we continue to work together we can keep the number of cases low.

On a lighter note, the staff across the school have been working really hard to create spaces in their environments to promote independent learning and continuous provision. This week all classes have focused on their 'Message Centres' (see image below from Owls Class) to promote independent mark making and writing. Previously they have created 'Creation Stations' (Art Centres) and 'Play dough Factories'. I will ask the teachers to post some photos of the areas in use.

Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the fireworks if you see any,

Kerry Devane

Eco Warriors

KS1 have been on a litter pick around town this week. One class collected 132 cigarette ends! This has promoted us to take action! The children are going to give letters to the pubs and cafés in town to encourage their customers to dispose of the ends responsibly. Other children have made posters to put around town. Secondly, 5 children will be chosen to be Eco Warriors and thinks of other ways that the school and our town can look after our planet. Please get in touch if you have any ideas or ways you can support.
