Message from the Headteacher

The children are very excited about our Coronation plans next week. It would be great if you can join us for all, or some of the celebrations. Don't forget to send in a flag for Friday's parade. We would also appreciate any donations of cakes for our tea party, handmade or bought. To avoid food waste I will put up sign up sheets next week.

The staff at St John's are making every minute count practising reading and number recognition at different points in the day as well 2 members of staff carrying out interventions. Please do your bit at home by hearing your child read and going on Sumdog. Please do also use the Read Write Inc website to practise sounds and reading at home. Research shows that children who receive support at home achieve better outcomes.

Parent Tip

NHS Food Scanner App

Find out how much sugar, salt and saturated fat are really in the food you buy.

It's not always easy to know when there are hidden extras in the food we buy, especially if the food has been processed. This is a free NHS app that you can download to your smartphone. Use the app to scan the barcode on your food's packaging to get the lowdown on its content.

The app can also suggest food swaps as healthier alternatives.
