Jumping Johns Nursery is an Ofsted registered child care provider attached to the school and led by a highly experienced EYFS early years foundation stage practitioner. We offer places to children age 2 – 4 years old. The nursery is open on weekdays from 8am to 5:30pm. The Nursery is open during term time as well as for the Easter holiday and for the first 4 weeks of the Summer holidays (This could increase if there is enough demand).
Children may attend Nursery on mornings, afternoons, whole days or a combination of sessions, depending on availability of spaces.
Our nursery is located within St John’s C of E VC Infants School; we can be found behind St. John’s Church on Glastonbury High Street.
Jumping Johns has two rooms the ‘Caterpillar Room’ and the ‘Butterfly Room’.
Butterfly Room is situated on the St John’s School site and is predominantly used by our 3-4 year olds.
The Caterpillar Room is adjacent to the school site within the Orchard Court building; next to Glastonbury Library. This space is mainly used by the 2-3 year olds with the 3-4 year olds joining them for the 8-9am and 3-5.30pm sessions.
Both spaces have a large playroom, all weather outdoor play and a cosy room; dedicated to rest and quiet activities.
The two Nursery rooms are linked via steps which lead from the outdoor area at Orchard Court to the main entrance for the Nursery. We are very proud of the stimulating and enriching learning environment that we are able to provide children with from an early age.

Philosophy and Aims
Our primary focus is to provide education and childcare of the highest quality for both local families and those from a wider area; we intend to do this by:
- Establishing a partnership with parents, supporting them and acknowledging them as the primary carers and educators of their children.
- Planning experiences in the Nursery that are fun, dynamic and appropriate to the individual children.
- Offering flexible care routines that consider the needs of the individual child and a play based curriculum that is beneficial to their development.
- Employing adults who have a professional attitude and are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about children and who facilitate enlightening and enriching play.
Nursery fees are payable in advance by cheque, cash or employer childcare vouchers on the first day of each half-term. Terms and conditions are available on request.

How can I get help with my childcare costs?
Each child is entitled to receive Early Years Entitlement (EYE) funding from the funding period after their third birthday. This works out to be roughly 15 hours per week – please see the Somerset County Council EYE leaflet or ask a member of staff for further details.
Also families with 2 year old children who meet certain criteria can apply for funding. If successful Somerset County Council will pay for a maximum of 15 hours per week from the funding period after the child’s second birthday. There is an online form which can be found at www.somerset.gov.uk or printed forms are available in the Nursery. Please ask a member of staff if you would like further details.
